Happy Selena Day

an extremely tragic story--hits a little close to home since Lake Jackson is close to where i grew up and she played in Houston area alot. I never saw her in concert, nor would i have really been a fan, none the less, the story is very sad http://www.selenaforever.com/

On the day she was shot, I was working literally a stone's throw from Mexico in a high school in Presidio, TX, international crossing to Ojinaga,Mex.

The girls ran screaming, tearing their hair from their classrooms into the packed hallways, some passing out, when they got the news over the Mexican radio. The boys tried to physically resrain the girls, and got scratched to pieces. It was the first honest-to-god school crisis of my career, and to this day, the most difficult to contain, bomb threats, intruder lockdowns, tornados, and student deaths included.

A sad story indeed, but at least the tragedy gave the Bay Area Larrikans a place to start their hash every Wednesday!

I saw her at Desperado's once...in SA. I was underage and it was the last set, but it was her. Course my white ass had no idea who she was at the time. When I saw the movie it brought tears to my eyes...sad indeed. She just wanted to follow her dream and had finally found love.
